EV ad approved for cinema, digital and Clearcast with record turnaround time

The brief

When global electric vehicle manufacturer BYD geared up to launch its newest premium SUV, the Sealion 7, we were brought onboard to take previously shot material and re-edit it into a suite of smart, punchy, and platform-ready assets for both pre-launch buzz and full-scale launch.

Working at speed and at scale, we crafted three core films (Hero, Tech Focus, Product Focus), cut across a range of formats for TV, cinema, and digital platforms. The creative celebrated the Sealion 7’s technical excellence and cutting-edge design, encouraging audiences to book a test drive, challenge Tesla and rethink what they expected from an electric SUV.

Target Audience

The campaign was designed to appeal to high-earning professionals in the market for a luxury electric SUV, tech-forward, sustainability-minded, and design-conscious. 

A strong secondary audience was EV switchers, those who may have previously considered Tesla, but are now seeking alternatives with edge, performance, and zero Elon baggage.

Creative Concept

The idea was simple: elevate what already existed. We leaned into premium post-production, clever editing, and a new, custom-picked soundtrack to inject fresh energy into existing footage. 

The edits spotlighted BYD’s technical engineering, futuristic features, and the bold aesthetic of the Sealion 7—without needing to shoot a single new frame.

Execution

This was a fast-paced, high-pressure production with 32+ assets required across multiple formats.

Pre-launch ran digitally (organic + UK paid). Launch phase extended to connected TV, VOD, cinema, and a year-long digital rollout.

Despite last-minute delivery hurdles, we met every deadline, thanks to close collaboration with PMG and BYD, a nimble post team, and our heroic approach to Clearcast approval.
